UV Protection for Micrography Art
Plan on hanging your art where it will be exposed to any direct sunlight? Preserve the colors on your print with a layer of UV protective spray!
While protecting your art is not a difficult process to do through your framing choice or by spraying it yourself (see the FAQ under News for more information), I can also coat the print with a UV protective spray for you prior to shipping.
The UV Protection package includes 2 coats of Krylon brand UV-resistant matte clear acrylic coating which blocks out up to 98% of UV rays from direct sunlight. The packaging claims it will protect art permanently without reapplication, though I've heard some other artists recommend adding another coat after 10 years.
It's not recommended to hang any most types of art in any location exposed to direct sunlight more than 3 hours a day. If the wall you have in mind gets direct sunlight more than that, feel lucky you get that much sun and try to hang any art you care about on a different wall. Two coats will help, but enough UV will eventually get through anything.
NOTE: This process will add 2-3 days of processing time BEFORE shipping. My studio space isn't as well-ventilated as it could be and I have to let sprayed art dry for quite some time before I feel comfortable packing it up.
If you are purchasing multiple prints, you should either purchase one UV Protection package per print, or specify which one you want protected in the notes.
