Rae Antonoff at NewCAJE

Posted by admin on

I'm thrilled to be featured at NewCAJE 5, the annual Conference for American Jewish Educators, in multiple capacities: as Young Professional fellow, presenter, and exhibitor.

My art will be at the And Thou Shalt Read table at the conference in the Exhibit Hall, with a scribing demo 11 am - 1 pm on Monday, and 1-3 pm on Tuesday.

I'll also be leading two workshops: "Art Projects & Backwards Design" at 9 am Monday, in which we'll apply the concepts from Wiggins' and McTighe's Understanding by Design -- with some minor modifications -- to art projects, and we'll work to design a new art-based lesson plan "from the back."

At 2 pm on Monday in "An Old-New Method for Improving Hebrew Decoding," I'll share my methods and original resource materials for teaching Trope to students ages 9-12; my observations, successes, and challenges from the past several years of incorporating Trope into Hebrew education well before B'nai Mitzvah; and possibilities for the future role of Trope in modern Jewish education.

If you're at NewCAJE, I hope to see you at the table or workshops! If you're unable to attend, some workshops (neither of mine, though) are bring broadcast online, which you can access for a small donation to the scholarship fund (which is helping me attend along with many other wonderful Young Professionals who might otherwise not be able to afford the registration fee): http://www.newcaje.org/conferences/live-streaming/

B'shalom,

- Rae
